"Let's Do Lunch At The Center"
Delicious meals are served four days a week from 11:15 a.m.-11:45 p.m., at the Stanton Community/Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. Three-day advance reservations are required. Along with meals, our dining room is always full of fun, special parties, holiday celebrations and many warm friendly people. A suggested donation of $2.50 for seniors and $3.50 for 59 or younger is accepted. For reservations please call (714) 890-4276.

“Special Seasonal Luncheons”
Our popular special luncheons feature a delicious meal, socializing and entertainment. This summer season will feature seasonal luncheons at the Stanton Community/Civic Center, 7800 Katella Avenue. Treat yourself to a splendid meal, talk with your friends and meet new ones. Enjoy the entertainment planned especially for you! Reservations must be made in advance for reservations or additional information call 890-4276.

Senior Weekly Activities:
Karaoke - Mondays
Every Monday a local volunteer hosts Karaoke and it is available from 10-11:30 a.m., at the Stanton Community/ Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. All seniors are welcome to come and meet new people, sing and enjoy the fun.

 

Piano Music - Tuesdays
Every Tuesday a local volunteer plays the piano from 10- 11 a.m., at the Stanton Community/Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. All seniors are welcome to come and meet new people, sing along and enjoy the fun.

 

Bingo - Wednesdays
Every Wednesday BINGO is played from 10-11 a.m., at the Stanton Community/Civic Center, 7800 Katella Ave. All seniors are welcome to come and meet new people and enjoy the fun.

Excursions:
The Flower Fields
For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields® at Carlsbad Ranch, in Carlsbad, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, is also one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.  Come and enjoy this day. The excursion is limited to 13 participants and transportation is via City van. Pre-registration is required. Wagon rides are available onsite for an additional $5 per person, payable at the fields is space permits. No refunds.

HEALTH SCREENING EXCURSION ”Adult Field Trip to Healthy Eating”
This field trip will focus on healthy aging awareness and preserving memories and encourage you to explore their community and to incorporate various leanings into your day-to-day life.  How much do you really know about your health? What food and drugs interact? What supplements improve your memory? Why is a well balanced diet important? Take the Challenge and find out! Hosted by Ralphs in the City of Fullerton. Calilfornia Science Center
The California Science Center offers fun and informative permanent exhibits presented in interactive worlds. Through hands-on experiences in our galleries, you’ll learn about human inventions and innovations, the life processes of living things and more. The Science Center also features fantastic

City of Stanton Senior Transportation
The City of Stanton is now offering an in-house transportation program. If you live in the City of Stanton and are looking for a ride to the Stanton Senior Center for a low cost nutritious lunch, we can help! Call 890-4276 to schedule your ride today.

O.C.T.A. Access Transportation
Transportation provided within Orange County for medical appointments, shopping, or social visits ($2.25 each way per zone). For information and to register for this ride program call the Orange County Transit Authority (O.C.T.A.) at (714) 636-7433. Applications can also be obtained from the Stanton Parks & Recreation Services.

Free Senior Screenings & Health Related Events at the Stanton Community/Civic Center:

BRISTOL PARK will be providing Free Blood Pressure Screening the first Thursday of each month, 9-10:30 a.m.

ANAHEIM MEMORIAL will be providing Blood Pressure Screening the third Thursday of each month, 9-10:30 a.m.

Exercise Classes:

Physical Fitness Class
This class is designed to improve the quality of daily living by providing non-threatening, educational experiences, social interaction and adaptive physical activity.

Arthritis Foundation “Golden Yoga Exercise”
If you suffer from arthritis or a condition that limits your range of motion, are overweight and/or have never exercised, then this class is for you. Come stretch and lose weight. Some basic exercises are beneficial for almost everyone. For many years it was thought that those with arthritis should not exercise since it would “exacerbate the condition.” Actually, physicians and therapists have found that people with limited range of motion can relieve pain & greatly benefit from the gentle yoga based routine. Reap the rewards; if you practice exercise regularly, your body will become increasingly toned, strong and flexible.

Arthritis Foundation (People with Arthritis Can Exercise)
This exercise class conducts activities that are designed to sustain and improve joint mobility, tone muscles and improve posture. This exercise program is conducted with participants sitting and standing and allows people to have fun while exercising in a group setting.

55 Alive Class
An innovative, classroom driver retraining program, sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons (A.A.R.P.), is designed to assist older persons improve their driving skills. It covers the effects of aging, medications, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse
road conditions, energy saving and accident prevention measures.  The instructor will provide a certificate upon completion that may lower your auto insurance. Class fee due to instructor at first class.

Assistance with referral to a variety of senior services including adult day care, counseling, home health care, housing, home delivered meals, case management, respite, employment, legal assistance, support groups mediation service, and other community services available through the Parks & Recreation Department at (714) 379- 9222 ext. 276.
 

Legal Services
The Senior Citizens Legal services are available to seniors regardless of income. The contact number is (714) 511- 5200, or (800) 834-5001.

Stantonites Senior Club
Stanton Parks & Recreation Services invites individuals 50 years of age and older to attend and participate in:
The Stantonites, a local senior organization that meets every Thursday in the Stanton Community/Civic Center from 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. Members enjoy potlucks, holiday celebrations, birthday parties, trips, cards, bingo and the opportunity to meet new people. Membership is $5.00 a year.
