West Nile Virus in Stanton

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District has confirmed the first mosquito samples infected with West Nile virus (WNV) in the City of Stanton. The surveillance traps were set in the area of Stanton Park on 9/9/2020 and tested positive for WNV on 9/11/2020. Inspectors will be out in the area to check known sources of mosquito breeding and try to identify any unknown sources.

 

Commercial Cannabis Business Permit

Applications for the Commerical Cannabis Business Permit is now open. To be considered to operate a cannabis-related business in the City of Stanton, All interested operators must submit a screening application including:

  • Information about the ownership/management team
  • Proposed business plan
  • Design concept 
  • Security plan
  • Experience 

No physical location is part of this phase and will not be part of this initial evaluation process. 

 

Homekey Program

Adoption of the City’s 2014-2021 Housing Element has guided our efforts to determine the number of families using hotels/motels as temporary residences and to coordinate with regional partners experienced in conversion of motel units to permanent housing.

The City of Stanton's Small Business Relief Program (SBR) had recently concluded and was a huge success! Overall the program helped 124 of Stanton's eligible businesses by rewarding them up to $7,500 in relief funding.

The SBR Program was created after the City received $934,190 in federal CARES Act funding to help support local businesses impacted by COVID-19 back in June of 2020.

As businesses begin to re-open in the City of Stanton, it is vital to assist restaurants, retail stores, and commercial establishments to operate in a safe manner where social distancing is maintained in accordance with guidance from the State of California and Orange County local health officials. It is critical that these establishments do so in a manner where social distancing is maintained to limit the spread of COID-19. Therefore, it is necessary to temporarily allow commercial businesses to operate on private property, parking lots, and public sidewalks.
