Stanton Celebrates Seniors With Services and Programs

Jun 11 2017

Stanton, Calif. – June 15, 2017 –This month the City of Stanton is “Celebrating Seniors” by highlighting the activities and programs offered to senior adults at the Stanton Senior Center located at 7800 Katella Avenue.

Through grant funding and partnerships with various organizations, the center is proud to offer free exercise classes that support senior physical and spiritual health. During exercise classes participants focus on balance, mobility, posture, strength and cardio to promote general health and fitness. The center also offers free preventive blood pressure screenings to help decrease the chances of stroke, heart failure and heart attack among seniors. To further support a healthy lifestyle for seniors, every year the City of Stanton in partnership with Rowntree Gardens, host a Senior Health and Wellness Expo where seniors have access to flu shots, health screenings, healthy food cooking classes and information on how to enjoy a healthy life. The event is held in October and is free for all seniors to attend.

Entertaining activities are never scarce at the center. Seniors can socialize and make new friends while playing bingo, singing karaoke, participating in excursions and attending special luncheons. For those that want to take a break from preparing lunch, the center also serves delicious low-cost meals. Most activities occur on a weekly basis so there's always something going on at the center.

To make services accessible to all seniors, the City’s transportation program provides free transportation to and from the Senior Center. Additionally, seniors can now obtain transportation to the Stanton Farmers Market held on Thursdays at Stanton Central Park.  As part of program, seniors receive market vouchers that can be used to purchase fresh produce, lunch or any ware sold at the market!

One of the most notable programs provided at the Senior Center is the SeniorServ's Home Delivery Meal (HDM) program. The program prepares and delivers meals to more than 250 homebound Stanton seniors each week.HDM delivers more than just a nutritious meal. It also delivers a friendly visit, a safety check and a connection to community resources. This program relies on volunteers to assist with the meal delivery.  If you are interested in volunteering please call (714) 890-4276.

Every activity and program rendered by the center is invaluable because it enriches the lives of seniors through social interaction, fitness and preventive health services. The City of Stanton and the Senior Center are proud to serve and positively impact its senior community.
